How long will the application take?

This application will take around 10 to 15 minutes to complete if you have all your information at hand.

To protect your information this application will timeout after 30 minutes.

Upon completion of the application, you can submit and receive a notification within 60 seconds advising you whether or not you have been approved or whether we need more time to process your application. In some instances, we may need additional information from you.

What information do I need?

In order to complete the application you will need the following information at hand.

  • Existing American Express Card number (if applicable)
  • Your driver's licence details (if you have one)
  • Your current employer's details including full address and telephone number
  • Your annual salary and other annual income before tax
  • If you are self-employed, details of your accountant
  • Your monthly household expenses
  • Your monthly repayments for car, personal or other loans
  • Combined credit limit for Cards that are NOT held with American Express

Who can apply?

  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Have a good credit history and no payment defaults
  • Be a permanent resident or citizen of Australia or hold a current Business Long Stay Visa (Subclass 457)
  • Earn a personal gross (pre-tax) annual income of $40,000 or more
  • If self-employed, you have been trading for at least 18 months or 12 months if you hold an existing American Express issued Card

2. You must be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program to earn and redeem points. A joining fee may apply. Membership and points are subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program. 3. Selected Qantas products and services are: (a) Qantas passenger flights with a QF flight number purchased on the Qantas merchant account i.e. with Qantas direct or some travel agents or (b) purchases from Qantas Travel shops. Excludes: Qantas Holidays, Qantas Freight, Jetstar and Qantas branded non-airfare products operated by third parties e.g. Qantas Box Office. Subject to Points Terms and Conditions.

4. The 17,500 Qantas Frequent Flyer points offer is only available to new Qantas American Express Card members who apply via the online application form, are approved  by 30 June 2012 and make the required eligible Card spend(s). Points are awarded as follows:

     5,000 points after your first purchase on the Card

     10,000 points after you spend $500 on purchases on your card within the first 3 months of becoming a Card member

     2,500 points after your first Card spend in Australia on selected Qantas products and services.

Maximum number of points available under this offer is 17,500 points. Points are earned in accordance with and subject to the Qantas American Express Card Points Terms and Conditions available here, and exclusions apply. Please allow 6 to 8 weeks after you have made the eligible spend for the points to be credited to your account. 8. Provided that you notify us immediately of any fraudulent transactions and you have complied with your Card Conditions, you will not be held liable for any unauthorised charges. "Immediately" means as soon as you are aware but no later than on or after the due date for payment of the statement in which the fraudulent transaction appears.

9. If you Card is lost or stolen, you must report it immediately. You can call American Express 24 hours a day. In Australia, call us on 1300 363 687. If you are overseas, report your lost or stolen Card to the nearest American Express Travel Service or Representative Office. Once you have notified us, you are not liable for any unauthorised charges
