Purchase Protection

Paying for your purchases with your American Express Card makes sense, because almost anything you buy using your Card is covered by Purchase Protection, so it'll be either replaced or refunded for up to 90 days after the date of purchase if it's damaged accidentally or stolen. Good to know if your mobile phone gets taken, or you accidentally drop a piece of delicate electronic equipment the first time you take it out of the box. Because, as long as they were bought on the Card, you're covered.

Refund Protection

Refund Protection offers guaranteed product satisfaction on unused eligible items purchased entirely with your Card. If you try to return an unused eligible item within 90 days from the date of purchase and the establishment refuses to take it back, this cover refunds the purchase price, up to $500 per item. So if you've just got your new rug home and discovered that it doesn't match the lounge, don't worry - because we'll take it back when the store won't.

Travel Inconvenience Cover

Whether you're travelling overseas or within Australia, you will have the reassurance of this cover from American Express for those occasions when things don't go to plan. When your tickets are charged to your American Express Card, you are covered if you experience a delayed flight, a missed connection or delayed luggage.

The following inconveniences are covered:

  • Travel Delay — when your flight departure is delayed for 4 hours or more, your flight's cancelled, or you're denied boarding, you'll receive up to $200 for meals or hotel accommodation.
  • Missed Connection — if you've missed an onward flight due to the late arrival of an incoming flight, you'll receive up to $200 for meals and hotel accommodation.
  • Luggage Delay — when your luggage is delayed and not delivered within 6 hours of your arrival, you'll receive up to $500 for clothing and essential purchases.
  • Extended Luggage Delay — when your luggage is delayed for 48 hours, you'll receive an additional sum of up to $500.

Transport Accident Cover

Wherever you travel, if you purchase your tickets with your American Express Card, you'll receive up to $150,000 of Transport Accident Cover, helping to provide protection against loss of life or limb when travelling with any public transport (including taxis and airport limousines).

Buyers Advantage™

Every electrical item is a joy to have. Until it stops working. Fortunately, when you buy any electrical product in Australia for personal use and pay with your American Express Card, you're covered by Buyer's Advantage, which doubles the manufacturer's warranty for up to 12 months, as long as the item carries a manufacturer's original warranty of five years or less. And to save you from any extra hassle, there's no need to register your purchase or fill in forms to take advantage of this cover - you're automatically registered once you pay for the item with your American Express Card.

Supplementary Card

All the benefits of the American Express Card can be shared with your partner, your children (over 18 years old) or anyone else you nominate.

Supplementary Cards are billed directly to your Account, are itemised seperately on your Account and earn you Membership Rewards points.

Each Supplementary Card costs $45 p.a., however, there are no joining fees for these Cards.

Global Assist™

If you should run into trouble while travelling, one call to our free Global Assist service can put you in touch with an English speaking doctor or lawyer. The service is available 24 hours a day virtually anywhere in the world.

Global Assist is available when you are more than 200km from home, for no longer than 90 days.
