Burgenland, which means “Land of Castles“, is a region where nature and culture converge: Rolling, wooded hills and citadels going back to Roman times.
The land around Lake Neusiedl is characterized by picturesque towns and villages and extensive pastures and idyllic vineyards. Thanks to about 300 days of sunshine per year and the mild Pannonic climate full-bodied red wines are produced in this region. You can taste (and buy) the good wines in architecturally interesting settings – today ”Wine Architecture“ has almost become a synonym for Burgenland.
Other places of interest are the splendid Esterházy Palace in Eisenstadt, Kittsee Palace, the city of Rust, and Forchtenstein Castle. Evening concerts held at castles, a visit to the vintner, recreation in one of the resorts on Lake Neusiedl or simply invigorative hiking tours in beautiful countryside – going on holiday in Burgenland means treating all your senses to a holiday.
