The American Express^® AIR MILES^®* Platinum Credit Card

1. Bonus - Account must be in good standing. Offer valid for applications received by American Express through the links provided within the webpage. Subject to change without notice. Please allow up to eight weeks from the date the bonus miles were earned for the bonus to be awarded. This offer cannot be combined with any other offer. The welcome bonus of 500 reward miles will be awarded upon first use of an approved Card. To qualify for the additional 500 bonus miles, you must have at least $500 in net purchases posted to your account within your first three months of Cardmembership.
   
   
2. Earn Rate (AIR MILES®* Platinum Credit Card) - You can earn AIR MILES reward miles for eligible retail purchases at American Express merchants in Canada as follows:
   
   • 1 reward mile for every $10 at AIR MILES Sponsors. Visit the eligible sponsor list at americanexpress.ca/airmilessponsors. List is subject to change without notice.
   • 1 reward mile for every $10 at (i) stand-alone gasoline stations for automobiles, (ii) stand-alone grocery stores, and (iii) stand-alone drugstores. Purchases at merchants where gas, grocery and pharmacy sales are not their primary business (including superstores, wholesale clubs, alcohol retailers and general merchandise retailers) and purchases at sponsors do not qualify for the earn rate in this category.
     
   • 1 reward mile for every $15 of other card purchases.
     Merchants are typically assigned codes and categorized based on what they sell. Earn rate of 1 reward mile for every $15 applies if the merchant code is not in an eligible category, the purchase is made using an electronic wallet or is not made directly from the provider of the good or service, e.g. through a third party or by using a mobile device (e.g. smart phone) with an attached card reader. Provided your account is in good standing, reward miles can be earned on eligible purchases less returns and other credits. Funds advances, interest, fees, balance transfers, Amex cheques and charges for travellers cheques and foreign currencies are not purchases and do not earn reward miles.
     
     
3. Supplementary Cards - No annual fee for Supplementary Cards. Must be age of majority. Maximum 9 Supplementary Cards per account.
4. All references to you means the Basic Cardmember.
5. Your account must be in good standing. You agree to only make recommendations to known friends or family members with whom you have a relationship and who have confirmed to you that they want to receive this communication. You must not send recommendations to people you do not know. The referral bonus will be awarded to you based on each eligible referral for which American Express receives an application that is subsequently approved, subject to all applicable terms and conditions. Due to the confidential nature of the approval process, you will not be notified when applications are approved or declined and any individual you have referred must agree to allow your account to be bonused upon approval or you will not receive the referral bonus. If our records indicate that any person you have referred has opted not to receive e-mails from us, your referral will not be sent and you will not receive the referral bonus offered as part of this program. Referral program varies by product and may be modified, suspended, cancelled or otherwise terminated without notice. Cannot be combined with any other offer. If the people that you refer have already applied for the product that you are referring without participating in this program, neither you nor they will be eligible for referral bonus offered as part of this program. Likewise, if the people you refer decide to apply for a Card through this referral program other than the one you have specifically recommended, the referral bonus for which you and they may be eligible will vary. Referral program participants should allow 8 to 10 weeks for the award of the referral bonus once program criteria have been met and must be enrolled in the corresponding loyalty program when the referral bonus is awarded. 6. Car Rental Theft and Damage Insurance - Underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company of Canada. Coverage is in effect as long as you have fully charged your rental to your American Express AIR MILES Platinum Credit Card. There are specific conditions that apply to who may rent and drive the rental vehicle, the length of rental and the type of vehicle covered.
7. Travel Accident Insurance is underwritten by ACE INA Life Insurance, Head Office in Canada: Toronto, Ontario, under Master Policy TMH600135. 
8. Assured Reservations - Your room will be held until check-out time the day following your scheduled arrival or comparable accommodation will be provided at no charge. When making reservations at participating hotels or motels request an American Express Assured Reservation and be sure to ask for a confirmation number. To cancel an Assured Reservation, call the hotel or motel before the time specified by the property to avoid being billed for the first night's stay. Be sure to obtain and keep your cancellation number. 
9. Front Of The Line® - Purchase must be charged in full to an American Express Card issued by Amex Bank of Canada. Subject to availability and to event and ticketing agent terms, conditions and fees. Not all seats are available. All sales are final. No refunds. No exchanges.
10. Purchase Protection® Plan - Underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company of Canada.
11. Buyer’s Assurance® Protection Plan - When you charge the full price on eligible purchases to your American Express AIR MILES Platinum Credit Card, the coverage given under the manufacturer's original warranty is automatically doubled for up to one additional year. Buyer's Assurance Protection Plan is underwritten by Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Company of Canada.
12. Fraud Protection Guarantee - Use the American Express Card online or off, and you won’t be held responsible for any fraudulent charges, as long as you’ve taken reasonable care to protect your account details and PIN. Notify us at once if your Card is lost or stolen, or you suspect it is being used without your permission
13. All Rewards offered are subject to the Terms and Conditions of the AIR MILES Reward Program, are subject to change and may be withdrawn without notice. To redeem for Travel and/or Merchandise Rewards, you must have accumulated sufficient AIR MILES reward miles in your Dream Balance. Some restrictions may apply. Quantities may be limited. Collectors must pay taxes, fuel surcharges and other applicable charges and fees on air, hotel and car rental Rewards. Travel Rewards may be subject to a minimum advance booking and availability from participating Suppliers. No cancellations, exchange or refunds for tickets, certificates or merchandise once booked or ordered. Redeem AIR MILES reward miles on the AIR MILES Cash balance of your AIR MILES Collector Account in increments of 95 reward miles for $10 off your purchases at participating AIR MILES Sponsor locations to a maximum of $200 per day. You must first activate your Collector Account by setting your balance preference to allocate some or all of the reward miles you earn after activation to your AIR MILES Cash balance. You must have accumulated sufficient reward miles in the AIR MILES Cash balance of your Collector Account in order to redeem reward miles towards purchases at participating Sponsor locations.
