If it happens, immediately report your debit or credit cards as lost or stolen to Identity Protection Services. They will contact card issuers, ask them to cancel your cards and request that replacements be sent to you as soon as possible2. In addition, AMEX Identity Defence will assume liability of fraudulent charges on your cards immediately.
  • Secure Card and Documentation Registration - when you need important information such as credit and debit card numbers, passport numbers, insurance policy numbers and birth certificates, AMEX Identity Defence stores this information securely and makes it available to you whenever you require it—online and via phone.
  • Identity Fraud Assistance - Identity Protection Services is a resource that can provide the knowledge to best protect yourself against identity theft and discuss best practices on safeguarding your personal details.


Traveller Services
  • Emergency Cash Transfer4 - in the event that you are stranded away from home with no money and your cards have been lost or stolen, call Identity Protection Services to report the loss, and we will wire up to $1,000 to a location close to you, if requested.
  • Emergency Airline Ticket(s) 4 - if you become stranded away from home after losing your cards, and have reported the loss to Identity Protection Services, we will arrange for pre-paid airline ticket(s) to be waiting for you at the nearest airport.
  • Emergency Message Relay - have an emergency and need to get in touch with someone? Call Identity Protection Services and give us the names of up to three people you need to contact anywhere in Canada. We will make up to three attempts to reach them and pass along your message.
  • Travel Voicemail Service - travelling and need to stay in touch back home? Activate your own personal voicemail service. Anyone who needs to stay in touch with you can call to leave messages for you and you can leave messages for them. We’ll set up your own confidential voice mailbox for you and others to access within Canada and the United States toll-free.

Personal Convenience Services
  • Important Date Reminder Service - never forget an important date again! Register up to 12 dates and events important to you. We’ll keep the information on file and send you a special reminder in advance of your registered dates.
  • Change of Address Notification - moving? Save yourself some time and energy, and ensure that your mail is reaching you at your new location. Advise us of your upcoming move at least four weeks prior to the date and we will notify each of your credit card companies, major magazines, and other providers so that your records are updated and statements are routed correctly.
  • Passport Expiry Reminder - register the expiration date of your passport. Then, we’ll keep track of the date, notifying you at least 6 months in advance of your passport expiry. We’ll even send you the renewal application.

To be eligible for this benefit, you must be at least 160 kms from home, must immediately report your cards as lost or stolen to Identity Protection Services and request the benefit at the time of the report. Amount of funds transfer subject to available credit limit at the time of request and account must be in good standing.
