Additionally, it provides a cover against any personal liabilities that may arise whilst on a trip abroad.


Overseas Medical Expenses

This cover will reimburse for the expenses incurred for availing immediate medical assistance required on account of any illness or injury sustained or contracted whilst on a trip abroad but not exceeding the Sum Insured for the coverage as agreed under the Plan.

MAJOR EXCLUSIONS

The Policy does not provide coverage under the following circumstances:

  • Medical treatment abroad if that is the sole reason or one of the reasons for temporary stay abroad.
  • Treatments relating to the removal of physical flaws or anomalies (cosmetic treatment or 'plastic' surgery in any form or manner)
  • Any costs related to mental or psychiatric disorders

 

Travel Delay

This cover reimburses for the reasonable additional expenses incurred by the Insured if the trip (international) is delayed for more than 12 hours from the scheduled time until travel becomes possible.

Terms and Conditions:

  • Proof of connecting international flight during transit / delay of flight / plane hijacking must be provided by obtaining the certificates of the concerned authorities.
  • The Insurance Company shall not be liable for any loss arising in connection with domestic flights within the (any) country.

 

Missed Flight Connections

This cover reimburses the insured for additional transportation expenses in the event the insured misses or fails to take a connecting international flight of an international Airline due to the delay in arrival of another international flight, in which the Insured is travelling, beyond 6 hours of the schedule arrival time.

Terms and Conditions:

  • The Insurance Company shall be liable to pay the claim under this Section only if:
  • The Insured has actually boarded the first international flight.
  • Connecting international flight's schedule departure timing is at least 6 hours after the schedule arrival of the first international flight.
  • The expense is supported by a proof of purchase and is not reimbursable by another source

 

Loss of Passport / Documents

This cover reimburses the insured for all the necessary and reasonable expenses incurred by the Insured for obtaining a duplicate or fresh passport/visa following the loss of passport during a Trip abroad but not exceeding the Sum Insured.

Major Exclusions

The Policy does not provide coverage under the following circumstances:

  • Loss of the passport due to delay or confiscation by the customs, police or public authorities
  • Loss of the passport due to theft unless reported to the police authorities within 24 hours
  • Loss of the passport due to negligence

 

Loss of Baggage

This cover reimburses the total loss of your checked-in baggage on the trip abroad, for the travel destination specified in the main travel ticket from the Republic of India and return trip back to India during the trip abroad.

  • If the total no. of checked in baggages is one, then 100% of sum insured is payable
  • If the total no. of checked in baggage is more than one, 50% of sum insured is payable
  • The claim will be settled on benefit basis and is subject to the maximum of sum insured

Major Exclusions

  • Losses arising from any delay, detention, confiscation by customs officials
  • Partial loss or damage.
  • Any checked-in baggage loss in the Republic of India

 

Delay in Baggage

This cover shall compensate the insured for the temporary delay of more than 12 hrs of checked-in baggage being transported during a Trip abroad.

Major Exclusions

  • Partial loss or damage
  • Any checked-in baggage loss in the Republic of India

 

Personal Liability

This cover will compensate the insured in the event he/she becomes legally liable to a third party under statutory liability provisions in private law for an incident which results in death, injury or damage to the health of such third party or damage to his/her properties, but not exceeding the Sum Insured and provided the incident occurs during the period of insurance and whilst on a trip abroad.

Major Exclusions

  • Any claim arise from Insured's contractual liability
  • Any claim resulting from transmission of an illness or disease by the Insured
  • Any claim or damage resulting from professional activities involving the Insured
  • Any claim for liability arising directly or indirectly from or due to the ownership or possession of vehicles, aircraft, water craft, or activities of the insured involving parachuting, hand gliding, hot air ballooning or use of firearms
  • Any willful, malicious or unlawful act
  • Insanity or use of any alcohol / drugs addiction
