Welcome to Mazatlan

Mazatlan means "Place of Deer" in the ancient Nahuatl dialect. It was founded in 1531 by 25 Spaniards after founding Culiacan. Today, it is one of the main beach resorts in Mexico.

Its average temperature is 75°F from November to May, and 85°F from June to October.

"The Pacific Pearl", as it is called, has one of the largest seashore promenades (11 miles), lined with tourist resorts and beaches. It is worth mentioning the warm hospitality of its people.

For many years, Mazatlan was the most important city in the State of Sinaloa, not only because of its population, but also for its important economic development. At present, people is mainly engaged in the tourism industry.

In the Seal of Sinaloa and Mazatlan, the State of Sinaloa is divided into 4 sections, each one representing the most important historical cities in the state: Culiacan, El Fuerte, Rosario and Mazatlan. The other side of the seal shows the city and the port of Mazatlan, the most important economic resource. The geographical and astrological situations are also depicted, as well as traditions and customs of the people.
