Statement Download - Frequently Asked Questions 

Q. What is Statement Download?
A. Statement Download is the ability to download monthly statement data via the internet into either a financial software application such as MYOB, Quicken or a common spreadsheet application such as MS Excel.
Q. How do I download my Statement?
A. Log in to Online Services:
  1. Choose an Account
  2. Select a Statement period
  3. Click Download your transactions button at the top of the page
  4. Select your Billing period and compatible software file (i.e. QIF or CSV)
  5. Click on the "Download Now" button.
  6. File Download box opens, click on the Save button.
  7. "Save As" box opens, save your download data in your file location, name the file and then save.
Q. Is this service available to all Cardmembers?
A. This service is available to all American Express Cardmembers except for Green Small Business Cards and Corporate Cards.
Q. Is there a cost to use this functionality?
A. There is no cost to download your statement; this is a new Online Services feature.
Q. Do I need to enrol in Statement Download?
A. You do not need to enrol in Statement Download however you must be enrolled in Online Services in order for you to be able to download your statements.
Q. Do I need to have the financial software packages installed on my computer to use the functionality?
A. You must have the relevant software package and version installed on your computer to be able to use your downloaded statements.
- QIF format: All versions of Quicken for Windows 2004 or older releases 4+, Quicken for MAC Release 2, MYOB or MS Money 1997+,
- CSV format: All versions of MS Excel & Lotus 123
Q. Is there an internet security risk with downloading my statement?
A. You should always ensure your virus software is up to date and for a more effective internet protection ensure you use a firewall between your computer & the internet. Never share your passwords and check your computer security regularly.
Q. How many statement periods are available?
A. We provide download capability for up to three rolling months of historical data.
Q. What statement information is downloaded?
A. - For CSV (Excel) the following information is downloaded:
Column A - Date
Column B - Total Amount (Inc GST)
Column C - Description
Q. Can I download my unbilled statement to view recent transactions?
A. Yes, you can download your unbilled statement to view your recent transactions.
Q. Who do I contact if I have problems downloading my statement?
A. Please contact American Express Online Services help desk on the number on the back of your Card.
Q. Is the statement download functionality available for supplementary Cardmembers?
A. Yes, Supplementary Cardmembers can download their charges. The basic Cardmember can download their charges and supplementary charges.
Q. Does the downloaded information replace my paper statement?
A. The downloaded statement will not replace the paper statement so please ensure you keep a copy of your paper statement for queries and taxation purposes.
Q. Does this replace Online Statements?
A. The downloaded statement will not replace Online Statements so please ensure you keep a copy of your online statement for queries and taxation purposes. Please note Corporate and Green Business Cards are not eligible to stop receiving paper statements at this time.
