General FAQs

  • How is American Express Car Insurance arranged and administered?

    American Express Insurance Services Europe Limited (AEISEL) will introduce you to Ageas Insurance Solutions UK Ltd (UKAIS Limited), who will arrange and administer your car insurance policy.
    UKAIS Limited uses a panel of selected insurers to find the right product at their most competitive price for your circumstances.
    UKAIS Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority under registration no. 307223. The company is registered in England and Wales under company no. 02613429 with its offices at Prospect House, Gordon Banks Drive, Trentham Lakes North, Stoke On Trent, ST4 4TW.

  • How reputable are the companies you deal with?

    All insurers that are on our car insurance panel are authorised, and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

  • Can I pay for my car insurance policy by instalments online?

    Yes, provided the proposer is aged 18 or over. We require a deposit to start your car insurance and then the balance can be paid by Direct Debit over the following 10 months. A credit charge is payable and this will be added to your total premium.

  • Can I change the instalment repayment dates for my car insurance policy?

    This is possible, but not currently available online. You would need to contact our Customer Services department on 0845 373 0014, who will advise which preferred dates are available.

  • Can I cancel my Direct Debit at anytime?

    Yes, you can cancel your Direct Debit at anytime by advising your Bank or Building Society. Please note that, by cancelling your Direct Debit, you are also cancelling the Credit Agreement. If you are cancelling your Direct Debit before the final payment has been made to us, the outstanding balance becomes payable immediately.
    IMPORTANT: Cancelling your Direct Debit does not cancel your car insurance policy.

  • Is it safe to input my card details online?

    Yes, we use the latest in encryption technology through SSL (Secure Socket Layer) which guarantees that any personal information or card details that you have input on our website are protected. Purchasing your car insurance policy online could not be easier, or safer.
    If, however, you do not feel comfortable with purchasing your car insurance policy online, please call us on 0845 373 0016 where you can purchase your car insurance policy over the telephone.

  • Can I get instant car insurance?

    Instant car insurance cover can start immediately, once payment is accepted and authorised.

Travel Insurance policy FAQs

  • Cover

    Is there a courtesy car in the event of an accident?
    Yes, with Comprehensive cover only, providing the vehicle is repairable (not written off) and the claim is arranged through your insurance company's approved repairer. The provision of a courtesy car will be subject to availability.

    Do you insure drivers under 25?
    Yes, we have a range of car insurance policies for young and inexperienced drivers.

    Does the price of my car insurance include motor legal expenses cover?
    This is not included automatically on Standard Car Insurance policies. Motor Legal Expenses cover is an optional extra, and full details are provided with your online quotation.
    Motor Legal Expenses cover provides insurance in respect of solicitors’ fees to assist you in recovering any uninsured losses in connection with a claim that wasn't your fault (e.g. your excess or damages for personal injury).
    Prestige Car Insurance comes with legal expenses cover included.

    Does the car insurance policy entitle me to drive anybody else's car?
    Most policyholders over 25 are provided with this cover. However, you need to check your certificate of insurance to make sure you have this entitlement which is limited to third party cover.

    What is "Motor Vehicle Excess Protection"?
    Motor Vehicle Excess Protection is an optional cover which provides reimbursement of up to £500 for an excess payment following a claim on your American Express Car Insurance Policy (see the policy wording for full details of cover).

  • No Claims Bonus

    I have been a named driver on someone else's car insurance policy. Does this entitle me to a no-claims discount if I start on my own?
    It is only possible for the policyholder to benefit from the no-claims bonus but we can usually arrange an introductory discount for you if you are claim-free, and you can get your quote online.

    I am getting a second car. Can I use my no-claims bonus twice?
    No, the no-claims bonus is limited to one vehicle. However if you are claim-free we may be able to offer an introductory discount through our panel of insurers, and you can get your quote online.

    I have had access to a company car for a few years. Can I get a discount for this?
    Yes, we are able to offer special discounts with selected companies, from our panel of insurers. However as further details are required, please call one of our car insurance sales advisors on 0845 373 0016.

    How can I provide proof of my no claims bonus?

  • What is an excess?

    An excess is a determined amount that is paid by the insured (yourself) in the event of a claim before the insurer will pay out. There are 2 types, compulsory and voluntary. The compulsory excess is set by the insurer and can't be changed. The voluntary excess is requested by the insured (yourself) and can be changed. This is always added to the compulsory excess to create the total excess that you would pay in the event of a claim.
    In the event of an accident that wasn’t your fault then normally the other party’s insurer will pay your excesses. If there is a dispute in regards to the claim, or your insurance provider is unable to recover their costs, you may be required to pay your excess before repair work can be done.
