Golf Insurance FAQ's.

We have listed below our most frequently asked questions in order to answer any queries you may have and to help give you a better understanding of our Golf Insurance policies. If you have a question that we have not answered here please call 0800 022 3124 where one of our Insurance experts will be happy to help you.

  • Do I have to pay a premium every time I am going to play golf?


    American Express Golf Insurance policies are provided on an annual basis, so the initial policy premium is all you will pay for the whole year.

  • Do you cover my golf equipment while playing abroad?


    Yes American Express Golf Insurance provides you with cover to play in the UK or any Worldwide destinations. This includes equipment cover while in transit to your destination.

  • If I am ill and unable to play will you reimburse my tournament entry and green fees?


    If you are ill or injured and unable to play, we will pay up to £1,000 to reimburse irrecoverable Green Fees and up to £250 to reimburse irrecoverable golf tournament entry fees.

  • My golf equipment is quite new, if it was lost or damaged would you replace it like for like?


    Yes. If your golf equipment is lost, damaged or stolen we will replace on a new for old basis. So no matter the age of the equipment we will replace on a new like for like basis, or cover the cost of a reasonable alternative if your equipment is no longer available.

  • Am I covered if I accidentally damage somebody's property while I am playing golf?


    Yes. American Express Golf Insurance policies provide you with £2 Million of Personal Liability insurance to pay compensation and legal costs to others when you injure or damage another person or their property while playing golf.

  • Will you really give me £300 for a hole in one!?


    Yes! As our way of congratulating you, we will pay up to £300 for a round of drinks at the golfing venue when you achieve a hole in one in a recognised competition.

  • What do I do if I need to make a claim?


    First check you are covered by your policy, noting particularly any conditions, limitations and exclusions. Telephone the Claims Helpline on 0845 408 2969 (during office hours) to obtain a claim form. Alternatively you can e-mail the Claims Helpline on amex.retail@axa-assistance-claims.com.

    You will need to give:
    - your name
    - your policy number found at the top of your Certificate of Insurance
    - your address including the postcode
    - brief details of your claim

    You must return your completed claim form and any additional information we ask for within 28 days of the incident.
