Who should apply?

To apply for the Gold Business Card, you should be able to say yes to the following.

  • I am aged 18 or over
  • The company has been trading for more than one year and has a current UK Bank or Building Society account
  • My personal income is over £20,000
  • I have a permanent UK home address
  • I/The Business have/has no County Court Judgements for non-payment of debt
  • Pay annual fee of £125 (Tax deductable)

To ensure timely completion of the application for your Gold Business Card, it’s best to make sure you have the following information with you before you start to apply for the Card.


Personal details:

  • Your bank or building society account details.
  • Your gross annual income.
  • Any existing American Express Card number (this can help speed up the decision-making process of your application)


Business details:
When completing the application, please note that the address required is the registered address of the business.  To complete the application process, we may request additional details for verification and authentication purposes. Do ensure you have the following details at hand, if relevant for your business. 

  • Name, date of birth, and address details of any shareholders who own 25% or more of the business.
  • Name, date of birth, and address details of at least two directors of the business if applicable.

If you'd prefer a Card without any rewards, other features or a Card membership fee, an alternative option is available – the Basic Business Card.


1. The maximum amount of time for deferred payment on purchases is obtained only if you spend on first day of new statement period and repay the balance in full on the due date.

2. Purchases are approved based on a variety of factors including account history, credit record and personal resources, security may be required. 

3. The 40,000 Membership Rewards bonus points will be awarded onto your account once you have been approved and you have spent and charged £3,000 within the first 3 months of Cardmembership.
