1. Who is covered by this Plan?
Basic and supplemental American Express® Card Members with an eligible American Express Card and a permanent residence within the United States, DC, Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands are eligible for Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance coverage. For residents of GU, MP, FM, MH, and PW, the Plan is underwritten by Tokio Marine Pacific Insurance Limited, Hagatna, Guam under Policy CRCB000000101. You must list yourself as the Primary Renter and any Authorized Additional Renters on the Agreement at the time of your rental.

2. How do I activate coverage under this Plan?
In order to activate Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance, you must be the primary renter, decline the full collision damage waiver (or similar option) offered by the rental company and use your eligible Card to reserve and pay for the entire auto rental.

3. Is Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance primary or secondary (excess) insurance?
Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance is a secondary (excess) insurance plan and will reimburse the Card Member only for losses/expenses not covered by other plans and when the Card Member uses their Card to reserve and pay for the entire auto rental.

4. What are the coverage limits?
Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance can provide coverage of up to $50,000 for theft of or damage to the rental vehicle. For Platinum® and Delta Reserve Card Members, Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance can provide coverage of up to $75,000 for theft of or damage to the rental vehicle. It can also provide secondary coverage for covered medical expenses incurred as a result of an accident while riding in or getting into or out of the Rental Auto by the Card Member or Passenger of up to a maximum of $5,000 per person. It also provides secondary personal property coverage within the Rental Auto of up to $1,000 for the Card Member and Passenger, while the total coverage for all occupants is $2,000. It also provides accidental death and dismemberment benefits of $200,000 for the Card Member and $20,000 for each Passenger.

5. What vehicles are excluded?
Vehicle exclusions include full sized sport utility vehicles, trucks, off-road vehicles, pick-ups, cargo vans, full-sized vans, customized vehicles, vehicles used for hire or commercial purposes, antique cars, limousines, sport/utility vehicles when driven "off-road", motorcycles, mopeds, recreational vehicles, golf or motorized carts, campers, trailers, any other vehicle which is not a Rental Auto and exotic cars as described in the Terms and Conditions. Cars with an original manufacturer’s suggested new retail price of US $50,000 or more are not covered. For Platinum and Delta Reserve Card Members, cars with an original manufacturer’s suggested new retail price of US $75,000 or more are not covered. 6. Where am I covered?
Coverage is available internationally, except for vehicles rented in Australia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, and New Zealand. Please note that, in the event any coverage provided by this policy would be in violation of US economic or trade sanctions, such coverage shall be null and void.

For OPEN Card Members , coverage is available within the United States, its territories and possessions with the exception of Business Platinum Card and Business Delta Reserve; for these cards coverage is available internationally, except for vehicles rented in Australia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica and New Zealand. Please note that, in the event any coverage provided by this policy would be in violation of US economic or trade sanctions, such coverage shall be null and void.

7. How long am I covered for?
Coverage is available for eligible Rental Autos when rented under a written rental agreement from a Rental Company for no more than 30 consecutive days after the Rental Auto was checked out.

8. Does this plan cover damage to other vehicles or injury to another person?
No, Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance does not provide liability insurance.

9. What is Loss of Use?
“Loss of Use” means the unavailability of a Rental Auto and consequent loss of revenue by the Rental Company due to damage or theft.

1. Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance is underwritten by AMEX Assurance Company, Administrative Office, Phoenix, AZ under Policy AX0925, Policy AX0926, Policy CRLDI-AX0927, or Policy CRLDI-IND. For residents of GU, MP, FM, MH, and PW, the Plan is underwritten by Tokio Marine Pacific Insurance Limited, Hagatna, Guam under Policy CRCB000000101. Coverage is determined by the terms, conditions, and exclusions of the Policies applicable to your Card and is subject to change with notice. This document does not supplement or replace the Policies. Car Rental Loss and Damage Insurance is an excess insurance plan and will reimburse the Card Member only for losses/expenses not covered by other plans and when the Card Member uses their Card to reserve and pay for the entire auto rental. Coverage applies for the first 30 days of an auto rental and when rented from a Car Rental Company. This product provides collision damage to the rented vehicle but does not cover such things as damages to other vehicles or property, or injury to other persons. This policy does not cover some vehicles, e.g. full-sized sport utility vehicles, off-road vehicles and expensive and/or exotic cars as described in the Terms and Conditions. Not all vehicle types or rentals are covered. Geographic restrictions apply. To be eligible for claim payment, your account must be in good standing.
