1. How do I sign up for Global Assist Hotline?
Global Assist Hotline is available to all US Card Members. There’s no need to sign up. There may be additional benefits for those US Card Members who receive Premium Global Assist Hotline. To learn more, simply call 1-800-333-AMEX (2639) for Global Assist Hotline and 1-800-345-AMEX for Premium Global Assist Hotline.

2. What am I eligible for under Global Assist Hotline?
Global Assist Hotline can help you prepare for your trip with customs information and destination guides. And while you’re traveling more than 100 miles from home, coordination and assistance services such as lost passport replacement assistance, translation services, missing luggage assistance, and emergency legal and medical referrals are a phone call away. Card Members are responsible for the costs charged by third-party service providers.

3. What phone number should I use to call Global Assist Hotline?
When you’re in the United States, call 1-800-333-AMEX (2639) for Global Assist Hotline and 1-800-345-AMEX for Premium Global Assist Hotline. When traveling outside the US, call 715-343-7977 collect or simply call the number on the back of your Card and ask for Global Assist Hotline.

8. Can Global Assist Hotline provide any assistance if I lose my passport while traveling?
If you find yourself in a travel emergency such as this, you can contact Global Assist Hotline at 1-800-333-AMEX (2639) and Premium Global Assist Hotline at 1-800-345-AMEX, and they can help you locate the nearest embassy or consulate. While some consulates do issue passports, some issue other travel documents.

10. What is Premium Global Assist Hotline?
Platinum® Card Members and Centurion® Members have access to Premium Global Assist Hotline. Premium Global Assist Hotline has all of same features of Global Assist Hotline and may provide certain benefits at no cost to the Card Member such as Emergency Medical Transportation and Repatriation of Mortal Remains.

11. What is Emergency Medical Transportation?
In the event that you or another covered family member (your spouse or domestic partner, dependent up to age 23, or age 26 if full-time student traveling with the Card Member) becomes injured or suffers an illness which is not pre-existing while traveling on a trip less than 90 days, the Premium Global Assist Hotline medical department will assess your medical needs and coordinate your transportation.

Medical transportation may be provided at no cost to the Card Member or covered family member to the nearest appropriate medical facility as determined by the Premium Global Assist  Hotline designated physician, from point of illness or injury, when the Card Member or covered family member is under the care of a local medical service provider or facility. In addition, the Premium Global Assist Hotline designated physician, in consultation with the local medical service provider or facility, must determine that such transport is medically necessary and advisable due to inadequacy of local facilities. The person needing transportation may need to complete a HIPAA Release, or provide authorization for next of kin to complete the release. Emergency transportation services in connection with the medical emergency may also be provided to a covered family member pursuant to the full Emergency Medical Transportation Assistance Terms and Conditions. How do I arrange for emergency medical transportation?
Please call 1-800-345-AMEX or the number on the back of your Card to speak with a representative to help arrange for medical transportation.

13. May I be reimbursed if I arrange my own medically necessary transportation?
No. Any risks and costs for medical transport not authorized and arranged through the Premium Global Assist Hotline Program are solely the responsibility of the Card member and such costs will not be reimbursed. Premium Global Assist Hotline does not cover medical expenses (with the exception of cost incurred during the transport) nor transportation of personal possessions including luggage.
