Your unique Touch ID or Face ID uses biometric technology to protect your Card. Every time you make a purchase, you’ll need to authorise the payment via Touch ID or Face ID. If you don’t have Touch ID or Face ID enabled for your device, you can elect to use your passcode instead.
Do not let anyone else, including family members, have their fingerprint registered to your device while your Card is registered in Apple Pay.
Instead of using your Card number, Apple Pay assigns you an encrypted, unique Device Account Number. When you make a purchase, this number, along with a transaction-specific code, is used to process your payment – meaning merchants will never see your details.
Nope! Not even for transactions over $100. There’s no need to open an app either. Simply hold your locked iPhone near the contactless reader with your finger on Touch ID, or you can use Face ID. You’ll know your payment was successful when you hear a beep.
If you lose or misplace your Card or device, call us immediately on 1300 132 639 and we’ll look after the rest. You can easily suspend Apple Pay using Find My iPhone or your iCloud account. You can even wipe your device if it’s definitely been lost or stolen.

Find out moreIf you need to return a purchase made with Apple Pay, you may be asked to provide the last four digits of your Device Account Number (instead of the last few digits of your Card number). To find them, select ‘Settings’ then ‘Wallet & Apple Pay’. Alternatively, find it in the settings menu in the Wallet app by tapping on the ‘i’ icon.
Cards issued directly by American Express are currently enabled for Apple Pay. You will need to check with your bank regarding the eligibility of bank issued American Express Cards.

Yes, Apple Pay allows a maximum of eight Cards to be loaded to the Wallet. To ensure you’re receiving the many benefits of American Express, make sure your American Express Card is set as your default Card.
To make your American Express Card the default Card, simply open the Wallet app then tap and hold the Card. Drag it to the front of the stack, and release. You'll receive a notification confirming your new default Card setting. Easy!
