Working with the retail industry

Over the years American Express has worked closely with the retail industry supporting specific sub-industries such as fashion, electronics and home improvements, as well as working with general retail and luxury brands through a range of Multi-Merchant promotions and marketing initiatives.

Retail marketing initiatives are fully managed by American Express from design to execution, from fulfillment through to reporting.

Our initiatives utilise our unique couponless fulfillment platform that enables us to automatically match enrolled Cardmember transactions against the participating Merchants in the retail promotion1. This allows automatic prize draw entries or redemption of offers without requiring coupons, certificates or receipts. All Cardmembers need to do is register their card and then spend at the participating Merchant – it’s a simple and seamless enrollment, fulfillment and reporting experience.

Using a combination of targeted direct channels, digital advertising and social media; our marketing initiatives drive Cardmembers to online and mobile webpage registration and encourage them to take advantage of the rewards by spending at the participating Merchants.
 
Our Retail based initiatives have driven customer loyalty, sales and traffic through the setting of attractive offers and relevant spend criteria.
