1. Additional Card Members. Additional Card Members must be 16 years of age or over. The Primary Card Member will be liable to pay for all transactions made by Additional Card Members. Earning of points is subject to the terms and conditions of the Rewards Program the Primary Card Member is actively enrolled. All points earned on Additional Card Member spend will go to the Primary Card Members Account. The Primary Card Member cannot add an Additional Card under their own name or email address and cannot add an Additional card under the name or email address of a previously approved Additional Card application on the Account.
2. Refer a Friend. American Express discourages spamming. You should only send referral messages to friends and family who genuinely want to receive them. In order to be eligible for bonus points, your friend must apply using the referral link you send them. If your friend applies from a separate link or applies independently you will not receive bonus points. You cannot refer a friend who already has one of our Cards or has held one in the last 18 months and you will only receive the Bonus Points if your friend's Card application is approved. You may only send referral messages to a maximum of 20 friends and the amount of Bonus Points you may receive under the ‘Refer a Friend’ program is capped at 200,000 points per year. 3. Transferring Points. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Membership Rewards program available at https://www.americanexpress.com/en-au/rewards/membership-rewards/terms. You must be a member of the airline partner program, joining fees may apply and points transferred will be subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable airline partner program.
4. Access to the American Express Lounges
The following Terms and Conditions govern the entry to the American Express Centurion® Lounges at the Sydney International Airport and the Melbourne International Airport.

(a) The Cards listed below that are current and issued by American Express Australia Limited and American Express International (NZ), are eligible to enter The Centurion Lounges in Sydney and Melbourne International Airports:

(b) Internationally issued American Express® Centurion and American Express® Platinum Cards that are current are eligible to enter The Centurion Lounge.
At the discretion of American Express, other American Express Card Members may also enter The Centurion Lounges.
Access to The Centurion Lounge
(a) American Express Centurion, American Express Platinum, American Express Business Platinum and American Express Corporate Platinum Card Members, have unlimited complimentary access to The Centurion Lounges for each American Express Card Account and are entitled to bring their children 17 years of age or younger and up to 2 guests into the lounge. Card Members wishing to bring additional guests will be subject to a charge that is to be processed on the Card Member's American Express Card. Please refer to the reception desk at The Centurion Lounge for the applicable charges.
(b) All other eligible cards are entitled to a total of two entries into The Centurion Lounges in Sydney and Melbourne per calendar year (1st January to 31st December). The entries may be used by the Primary Card Member, Additional Card Member or a guest travelling with a Card Member. Complimentary access is available for the Card Member's children 17 years of age or younger. Card Members wishing to bring additional guests will be subject to a charge that is to be processed on the Card Member's American Express Card. Please refer to the reception desk at The Centurion Lounge for the applicable charges.
General Conditions of Entry
(a) The Centurion Lounge at Sydney International Airport and Melbourne International Airport are operated by Plaza Premium Lounge Management (“Lounge Operator”). To access The Centurion Lounge, Card Members must present the following upon each visit their eligible physical American Express Credit or Charge Card and upon request, same-day airline ticket on any carrier.
(b) A Card Member must be at least 18 years of age to enter without a parent or guardian.
(c) The Lounge Operator reserves the right to remove any person from a lounge for inappropriate behaviour or failure to adhere to lounge rules, including, but not limited to, conduct that is disruptive, abusive or violent.
(d) Access to The Centurion Lounges is subject to space availability. The Centurion Lounge hours may vary and are subject to change without prior notice. Amenities may vary among The Centurion Lounge locations and are subject to change. In-lounge services and amenities are complimentary.
(e) American Express will not be liable for any articles lost or stolen or damages suffered by the Card Member or visitor inside the American Express Lounges.
(f) Use of The Centurion Lounges is subject to all rules and conditions set by American Express and the Lounge Operator. American Express reserves the right to revise the rules at any time without notice.
5. David Jones Shop with Points. Subject to the David Jones Storecard and David Jones American Express Rewards Points Terms and Conditions available here. The amount of Membership Rewards points required to purchase the item(s) is subject to change at any time. A minimum of 3,000 points must be redeemed at any one time. Only American Express Cards issued by American Express Australia Limited are eligible provided they are enrolled in the Membership Rewards program. The David Jones Storecard, Card Members enrolled in the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, Qantas American Express Cards, Velocity American Express Cards and Additional Card holders are not eligible for Shop with Points transactions. The Primary Card must be used to complete the purchase.
6. Ticketmaster. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Membership Rewards program. A minimum of 2,000 points must be redeemed at any one time. You must qualify with the Terms and Conditions in order to redeem points. If redeeming with Points + Pay, the 'pay' component of your purchase will be automatically billed to your American Express Card Account and will appear on the first billing statement following redemption. You’ll earn Membership Rewards points on the ‘pay’ component of your purchase only. Tickets must be purchased using your eligible American Express Card and will be charged to that day’s purchase. Only American Express Cards issued by American Express Australia Limited are eligible provided they are enrolled in the Membership Rewards program. This excludes any Bank issued American Express Cards the David Jones Storecard, the David Jones Platinum Card enrolled in the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, American Express Low Rate Card, Qantas American Express Cards, Velocity American Express Cards, and all Supplementary Card Members. American Express will debit the Membership Rewards points from your program account and issue a credit for the corresponding dollar amount to the Card account charged for your ticket purchase. If the total number of points redeemed do not cover the entire amount of the charge for your ticket purchase, the charge for the remaining balance of the purchase will remain on your Card account. Ticket purchases failing to qualify for Membership Rewards points redemption will remain charged to your American Express Card account and are subject to the venue’s and Ticketmaster’s no refund/no exchange policy
7. Select and Pay with points.
a) For each successful transaction with Select + Pay with points, points will be debited from your Membership Rewards account and a credit placed on your Card in line with the points chosen to be used for the Eligible Charge. A minimum of 1,000 Membership Rewards points is required for any Select + Pay with points transaction. Any credit to your Card account cannot exceed the amount of the relevant Eligible Charges. A credit will appear on your statement identified as “Rewards Credit”. Points will be debited immediately and the credit will take up to 3 business days to appear online. Credits processed after the Card account’s statement closing date will appear in the following statement. You are still responsible for payment of the amount due on your Card account by the due date. Select + Pay with points is not available for redemption by Corporate Card accounts and is not redeemable for cash via Credit balance refund.
b) American Express will select and display each eligible charge for Select + Pay with points (“Eligible Charge”) and the points rate required to pay for the Eligible Charge. Each Eligible Charge must: (a) appear within the Online Statement of the Summary of Accounts page; (b) be redeemed within 2 months of the charge appearing on your Card account; (c) not currently or have previously been disputed; and (d) not be a fee.
c) Eligible Charges, including the points rate required to pay for the Eligible Charge, may be changed at any time without notice. Select + Pay with points transactions can only be completed online. Select + Pay with points is available only to Basic Cardmembers enrolled in the Australian Membership Rewards program and is subject to the full Membership Rewards Terms and Conditions. Authorised agents, authorised account managers, additional Cardmembers and Authorised Additional Cardmembers are not eligible. All Linked Card accounts must be in good standing.
8. Gift Cards or Vouchers. Gift Card or voucher rewards are not redeemable or exchangeable for cash or credit. Normal retailer gift card or voucher conditions apply, refer to the gift card or retailer website for details. Gift Cards and Vouchers will be dispatched within 5 business days. Orders over $600 will be dispatched via Registered Post. Should you not receive your Gift Card or reward within the stated timeframe, you must advise American Express within 28 days from date of redemption.
9. Annual Travel Credit. Book through americanexpress.com.au/travel or by phone through Platinum Travel Service for flights, hotel or car hire. You may be able to use the Travel Credit on the American Express Travel website as payment towards Fine Hotels + Resorts and The Hotel Collection, if the selected hotel and room type provides you the option to prepay in advance. Benefit available for the Primary Card Member only to redeem in a single booking. For bookings less than $450, any unused portion of the Travel Credit will be forfeited. The Travel Credit cannot be carried forward to any subsequent year. To check the expiration date of your Travel Credit if you have not already redeemed it, please visit americanexpress.com.au/travel; log in and click Travel Credit Details in the top right hand corner. No refunds, including cancelled bookings. Travel Credit spend will not earn Membership Rewards points. Please note Additional Cards are referred to as Supplementary Cards in some Terms and Conditions and marketing material.
Beginning 1 May 2023, you will need to use your annual $450 Travel Credit on a single travel booking of $450 or more on your eligible Card, made through American Express Travel Online. Your booking will be charged in full to your American Express Platinum Card and American Express will then credit $450 to your Account within 3 business days but may take up to 30 days. You will still receive your $450 Travel Credit each year, and your Travel Credit anniversary will remain the same.
10. The American Express Global Lounge Collection.

You will earn 1 point per dollar spent with Merchants classified as 'government', including the Australian Taxation Office, the Australian Postal Corporation (Australia Post), Federal/State and Local Government bodies, including where you use a payment account, payment aggregator, services of a third party or online retailers that sell goods for another merchant.
12. Partner Programs. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Membership Rewards program available here. To transfer Membership Rewards points into an airline rewards or frequent guest partner program you must be a member of the partner program. Membership of the partner program is the Card Member's responsibility and is subject to the Terms and Conditions of the applicable program. A joining fee may apply.
13. Platinum Edge Travel Credit. American Express Platinum Edge Credit Card Members are eligible for one Travel Credit of $200 per year. Subject to Travel Credit terms and conditions. The Travel Credit can be redeemed for any eligible travel booked and paid online through American Express Travel in a single booking. For bookings less than $200 any unused portion of the Travel Credit will be forfeited. Eligible travel includes Flight, Hotel and Car Hire bookings only and may not be used towards Cruises. The Travel Credit can be used from the anniversary date and cannot be carried forward to any subsequent year. Your travel credit for that year will be forfeited if you cancel your booking, subject to supplier’s terms and conditions plus applicable fees.
Beginning 1 May 2023, you will need to use your annual $200 Travel Credit on a single travel booking of $200 or more on your eligible Card, made through American Express Travel Online. Your booking will be charged in full to your American Express Platinum Edge Credit Card and American Express will then credit $200 to your Account within 3 business days but may take up to 30 days. You will still receive your $200 Travel Credit each year, and your Travel Credit anniversary will remain the same.
14. Platinum Edge Membership Rewards. Subject to the Terms and Conditions of the Membership Rewards program available here. The following merchants have been classified as major supermarkets: Bi-Lo, Coles, Fishers, Food For Less, Fresh Provisions, Harris Farm Markets, IGA, Macro Wholefoods, Safeway, Supabarn, Thomas Dux, Woolworths.
The following merchants have been classified as major petrol stations: Ampol, BP, Caltex Woolworths, Gull, Metro, Peak, Safeway Petrol, Shell, United, Woolworths Petrol, 7 Eleven.
Exceptions may apply if an individual merchant trading as one of the above named retailers does not accept American Express as a form of payment.
Purchases at major supermarket & major petrol station retailers are only eligible for additional points if the transactions are made in Australia.
Certain transactions will earn 2 points per dollar spent, including the use of foreign currency overseas and overseas online payments. Additional points for major supermakets, petrol stations and foreign currency may not apply when you use a payment account, payment aggregator, services of a third party or online retailers that sell goods for another merchant. For example a payment made to a major supermarket processed through a payment aggregator may not earn the additional points.
15. Platinum Edge Card Insurance. The insurance on American Express Cards is subject to terms, conditions and exclusions (such as maximum age limits, pre-existing medical conditions and cover limits). You must use your American Express Platinum Edge Credit Card to pay for your trip in order to be covered under the travel insurance and pay for eligible items for those items to be covered under the retail insurance benefits. It is important you read the American Express Platinum Edge Credit Card Insurance Terms and Conditions and consider whether the insurance is right for you. We do not provide advice about the insurance or whether it is appropriate for your objectives, financial situation or needs. For bookings less than $400 any unused portion of the Travel Credit will be forfeited. Eligible travel includes Flight, Hotel, Car Hire and may not be used towards Cruises. The Travel Credit can be used for 365 days from the anniversary date and cannot be carried forward to any subsequent year. Your Travel Credit for that year will be forfeited if you cancel your booking, subject to supplier’s terms and conditions plus applicable fees.
