When doing business across borders, you will need to use a special code to identify an account at a particular bank and branch in a specific country. This is called the International Banking Account Number, or IBAN. Using the proper IBAN helps the recipient bank to process your payment. Be sure to request the payee’s specific IBAN to ensure that the transaction runs smoothly. A full Glossary of terms can be found here.
