Learn how to use the Card safely and easily during your journey.
By taking a few simple precautions, you can ensure that your travel funds are safe.
Depending on the Authorised Seller where you purchase the Card, you may be required to activate your Card. Check your Card envelope prior to your journey and follow the instructions. Once activated, your funds will be available the next business day.
Immediately sign the back of your Card when you receive it. Keep your Backup Card in its original packaging and store it separately.
Memorise your Card PIN, or call Customer Service to change it to something more memorable.
Register your Card online, so you can easily check your Card balance and transaction history. Simply click on Register Your Card.

Use your American Express GlobalTravel Card to pay for goods and services.
The Card is accepted at millions of locations outside of Australia, where American Express is accepted, regardless of the currency of your Card. Simply look for the American Express logo. Learn More
To pay for a purchase, use the Card like any other payment card. There are no limits placed on your spending, up to the amount you have loaded on the Card.
The Card can also be used for online purchases — as long as the merchant is outside Australia.
You can use the American Express GlobalTravel Card worldwide at ATMs that accept American Express, outside of Australia.
When you need cash in the local currency, use your Card to withdraw the amount you need at an ATM.

Add more funds to your American Express GlobalTravel Card, as often as you want, in two convenient ways:
Reload your Card in person at any participating branch of either the Authorised Seller where you purchased the Card
OR American Express Currency Exchange stores in Australia. You must have your Card and an ID (valid drivers licence or passport) present to complete the reload. Funds are credited immediately to your Card.
Reload your Card using BPAY through your own banking institution. Funds may take up to three business days to be credited to your Card. You will need:

Report a lost or stolen Card immediately, by calling Customer Service. We can assist you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If your Backup Card is also lost or stolen, we can send a new replacement Card to your preferred destination, at no extra cost.
If your Card has expired, please call Customer Service and they will assist you.
To access your funds while waiting for a replacement, we can arrange an emergency wire transfer through Western Union. Please note that standard limits apply and funds will only be released in the name of the account holder.
