How do I pay my American Express bill?
Here are the fastest and most convenient ways you may wish to consider when paying your American Express Card bill which can be paid at anytime, even after business hours:
Electronic Payment Program from American Express
The Electronic Payments Program provides American Express Cardmembers with options to make payments directly on your Card account. Choosing which option best suits your needs is up to you.

As a Cardmember you can either make a one-time payment through American Express Online Services or have American Express automatically debit your Canadian dollar bank account with our Pre-authorized Payment Plan*

Get further details and start the enrolment process.

* Corporate Cards are not eligible for Pre-authorized Payment Plan.
Internet Banking
Most financial institutions will permit customers and members to submit payments for various services through an online-internet banking option.

Often Cardmembers find Internet banking a fast and convenient way to pay their American Express bills as the payment processing times are shorter than the other traditional methods and access to the record is easy with no additional costs for postage and mailing.

In order to pay your American Express Card bill via this method, you must have automated bill payment set up with your personal bank or financial institution. Please contact your branch for the requirements in setting up this service. Your use of this service will be governed by your bank or financial institution's online payments policies and/or guidelines.

This service typically requires 3-5 business days for payment to be credited to your American Express Corporate Card account.
Please ensure that you have allowed sufficient time for payment to reach American Express and to be processed BEFORE your payment due date.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long will it take for my payment to be processed by Amex Bank of Canada?
For most of the mentioned payment options available, please allow at least 3-5 business days* for your payment to be processed and reflected as a credit to your American Express Card account.

* 2 - 3 business or calendar days for Internet payments.

Different options require a longer period of time before payment is credited to your account; however it is best you select the method that is most convenient for you and allow sufficient time for your payment to be received and credited by your Payment Due Date.

Will I incur any fees with above provided options?
Fees may apply and processing times may vary by the payment option you wish to use. Services may also vary by financial institution. Payments will be credited only upon receipt by Amex Bank of Canada.
What payment is required for charges made in foreign countries?
If you make a charge in a currency other than Canadian dollars that charge will be converted into Canadian dollars. The conversion will take place on the date the charge is processed by us, which may not be the same date on which you made your charge as it depends on when the charge was submitted to us. If the charge is not in U.S. dollars, the conversion will be made through U.S. dollars, by converting the charge amount into U.S. dollars and then by converting the U.S. dollar amount into Canadian dollars. If the charge is in U.S. dollars, it will be converted directly into Canadian dollars.

Unless a specific rate is required by applicable law, you understand and agree that the American Express treasury system will use conversion rates based on interbank rates that it selects from customary industry sources on the business day prior to the processing date, increased by a single conversion commission of 2.5%. If charges are converted by third parties prior to being submitted to us, any conversions made by those third parties will be at rates selected by them.
