About American Express Text Messages
General Information
An SMS message or Short Message Service is a text message sent or received on your mobile device
A short code is a 5 or 6 digit number registered to a subscriber and used to send text messages. You can choose to receive messages for Account Alerts (26931), Credit Alerts (26390), to download the Amex App (297687) and mobile wallet one-time verification codes (764564).
A keyword is used in text messages to request an action. To initiate an action, send the desired keyword in a text message to the American Express short code.
The following applies to all American Express short codes:
- For support, reply "HELP" to the short code.
- For more information, reply "INFO" to the short code.
- To de-enroll, reply "STOP" to the short code.
- Note that texting "STOP" in response to a requested one-time verification code text message will not prevent you from receiving future one-time verification codes via SMS, should you request to receive a one-time verification code again via text message.
Account Alerts, Credit Alerts, Text to Download the American Express® App, and One-Time Verification Codes are complimentary services provided by American Express.
