What is Pay with Bank transfer?
Pay with Bank transfer is a new payment method powered by American Express Payment Services Limited, an authorised provider of the payment initiation service (PIS). This service allows you to pay for any purchase made on a website directly from your bank account. The money is sent directly from your bank account to the business's bank account. You do not need to type in any account number or sort code information, and, none of your payment information is stored with the business.
How do I use the service?
When you are ready to pay for your online order, simply select the Pay with Bank transfer payment option at checkout. You will then be asked to confirm the amount of the transaction and select your bank account from which you want to pay. Upon your selection, Pay with Bank transfer will securely redirect you to your bank's website for authentication. This will be based on your bank's standard authentication process and may include a one-time password or pre-set secure passwords. You will then be able to access your account and confirm the bank transfer to the business to complete the purchase.
How is my information protected?
The product securely re-directs you to your preferred bank. Your log-in credentials and personal information are used only by your bank to verify your identity and fund availability. Your personal payment information will not be stored by American Express or the business.
What do I need to have in order to use the service?
To use the service you will need a UK bank account with Bank of Scotland, Barclays, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest or Santander. You must have your online banking feature enabled.
Are there any fees associated with using the service?
No, there are no fees incurred by you for making a purchase via Pay with Bank transfer.
Where will the transaction be reflected?
The transaction will be reflected on your bank statement issued by the bank you selected to make the payment from.
What happens if I want a refund or return?
Please contact the business you have made the purchase from. Any refund or return will be processed by the business and is subject to their refund/return process.
What do I do if I did not authorise the payment made to the business?
Please contact your bank by calling the number listed on the back of your debit card if you see an unauthorised payment.
Does Pay with Bank transfer work with all banks?
The product is currently integrated with Bank of Scotland, Barclays, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest and Santander.
Are there any limitations to what types of transactions Pay with Bank transfer works with?
This will work on any website that has the Pay with Bank transfer payment option displayed. Certain banks may impose a transaction amount limit.
Do I need to have an American Express® Card?
No, you do not need to have an American Express Card. You simply need a UK bank account with Bank of Scotland, Barclays, HSBC, Halifax, Lloyds, NatWest or Santander.
How long does it take for the transaction to reflect in my bank account?
Once the transaction has been approved by your bank, your bank account will be debited instantly.
What do I do if I have not received the product?
Please contact the business you have made the purchase from. Please keep your order number handy so that the business can track the transaction and assist you.
