- Mobile Messaging is available for eligible Cards only and operates 7 days a week from 8 am to midnight EST. Any account with a Centurion® Card is not currently eligible.
- Eligible Cardmembers with an eligible Apple device will be able to add their American Express® Cards to Apple Pay through their device settings. Prepaid Cards and products (such as the American Express Gift Card) are not eligible. For a list of Apple Pay compatible devices, see Apple Support Page.
- An Android device running on Kitkat 4.4 or higher is eligible for Google Pay.
- Available on eligible Samsung devices. In order to use Samsung Pay, please visit samsung.ca for a list of supported devices.
- This approval is based on your current account status. Certain changes to your account could affect the approved amount such as additional purchases, past due balance, a returned payment, a significant change in your spending pattern, or a fraud risk on your card. This approval is based on your overall ability to spend and is not related to the Flexible Payment Option limit on your account.
- Eligible Cards will vary by offer and are subject to change. Select Canadian American Express Cards issued by Amex Bank of Canada and Cards issued by a licensed third-party issuer (as applicable) are eligible Cards for the offer. American Express Cardmembers with an Eligible Card enrolled in the Membership Rewards Program are eligible to redeem with Pay balance with Points in accordance with these Terms and Conditions. For the purposes of these Terms and Conditions, an Eligible Card includes The American Express® Card, The American Express Cobalt™ Card, The American Express® Gold Rewards Card, The American Express® Platinum Card, Centurion® Card from American Express®, The American Express® Business Gold Rewards Card, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express® and The American Express® Corporate Card for Small Business and The American Express Business Edge™ Card.
You can access Pay balance with Points on the webpage by logging on to American Express Manage Your Account page and clicking on Pay balance with Points or in the Amex mobile app under the Redemption Hub within the Membership Tab.
If you are redeeming on the Pay balance with Points webpage or in the Amex mobile app, you must redeem a minimum of 1,000 Points per redemption (1000 points = $10 statement credit), Special redemption offers may be available from time to time. Subject to these Terms and Conditions, Points will be deducted from your Points Account and a statement credit will be applied to your Card Account that corresponds to the amount of Points redeemed. Points will be deducted immediately and a statement credit can take up to 48 hours to be posted to your Card Account. Depending on when you redeem Points, the statement credit can take up to two billing cycles to appear on your billing statement.
You are responsible for payment of the amount due on your Card Account by the payment due date. A statement credit applied to your Card Account as a result of a redemption with Pay balance with Points constitute a payment towards the balance of your Card Account. If you redeem Pay balance with Points for the purposes of meeting payment obligations on your account, please ensure you leave enough time for the statement credit/s to be processed.
American Express may reject your redemption request if your Card Account has a credit balance at the time of your request or if the request results in a credit balance on your Card Account.
Redemption of Pay balance with Points cannot be reversed. Statement credits applied to your Card Account resulting from redemptions cannot be exchanged for other rewards, and are not refundable or exchangeable for cash.
American Express can suspend or terminate redemptions with Pay balance with Points at any time it deems necessary, and reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions at any time.

- Eligible Cardmembers only. By turning on purchase notifications, you will receive a notification when there is purchase activity on your Card. Purchase activity includes purchases made with your physical Card or mobile wallet, as well as pre-authorizations made on your Card by merchants like gas stations and hotels, which are temporary and subject to change. If you already have purchase notifications for an eligible Card enabled with a mobile wallet on your device, you may receive multiple notifications. You can adjust your notification preferences from the Amex App and other mobile wallets at any time.
- Available to American Express Consumer and Small Business Cards issued by Amex Bank of Canada. Not applicable for all new purchases. The following purchases do not qualify and will still be processed even if the Cardmember has frozen the Card: automated or pre-authorized payments, recurring bills or subscriptions, transactions on any Supplementary Cards if only the Basic Card is frozen (each Supplementary Card must be frozen separately), mobile wallet transactions (including adding a Card to a mobile wallet), using the Card for online payments at merchants where the Card is stored on file or set up as the method of payment, and offline and delayed authorizations (such as purchases made aboard airlines). After freezing the Card, it will automatically unfreeze after 7 days. If you think fraudulent activity may have occurred on your Card, contact us immediately toll-free in Canada at 1-800-869-3016.
