Important Information:

  • You may only apply for one (1) Basic Consumer Card in Canada at this time; you may apply for additional Cards on your account when you have built up a Canadian credit bureau history. Corporate/Small Business Cards are not eligible.
  • If you have a credit bureau report in Canada, it will be considered when processing your application; however, your application can be approved in Canada without having a Canadian credit bureau report if you have an existing foreign American Express Card.
  • If you wish to keep your existing American Express Card from another country, you will continue to be responsible to pay any billed annual fees and any outstanding balances in that country’s currency. Note that if there is an outstanding balance, it cannot be transferred over to the new Canadian Card, if approved.
