1. How do I earn points?
You earn points for virtually every dollar you spend on your Card. Simply charge your everyday purchases to your American Express® Card and watch points add up*.

2. How can I earn points quickly?
American Express is welcomed at tens of thousands of places around New Zealand. Simply follow these four easy steps or take a look at some of the everyday places you can use your Card.
1. Everyday Purchases
Use your Card for everyday purchases including groceries and petrol. American Express is welcomed at major supermarkets including Countdown, New World and Pak n’ Save, major petrol stations like BP, Mobile, Z Energy, and many large retailers like The Warehouse and Bunnings.
2. Recurring Bills and Payments
Another great way to earn more Membership Rewards points is to setup recurring payments for your phone bill with Spark, Vodafone or 2 degrees. You can also earn points regularly by paying your Sky TV or WaterCare bill or insurance and utilities payments at a number of providers.
3. Add a Supplementary Card
Increase points quickly by adding Supplementary Cards for family. You'll earn Membership Rewards points on purchases your Supplementary Cards make. Supplementary Card Holders will also share some of the services and privileges American Express membership offers. Add someone to your account here.
4. Put your large purchases on the Card
Use your Card for high value purchases such as your next trip. For Credit Cards you can check your available credit online or via the American Express NZ mobile app. Search Amex NZ in the App Store or Google Play store.

4. Can I buy more points?
You can 'top up' points to fast-track a special reward. Membership Rewards points can be purchased in multiples of 1,000 ($20 = 1,000 points or $20 = 1,100 points for Platinum Cards), with a maximum of 15,000 points per reward. The cost of these points will be billed directly to your Card Account and will appear on the statement immediately following your purchase. Points purchased could not be transferred to an airline partner or a hotel frequent guest account. They can be used for all other rewards options.

5. Why does the points balance in my account not reflect what I spent in that statement?
This is because the Membership Rewards statement cuts off 4-6 days prior to your Card statement. So, if there are charges on the account after the statement cut off, they will be reflected in the next Membership Rewards statement or click here for an up to date balance.

6. I have two Cards that are eligible for Membership Rewards. Can I link them together and pool the points?
Yes you can link your account when you have eligible accounts enrolled in the same Membership Rewards programme option. Please call us on 0800 656 660 to arrange this.

7. Can I enrol my Corporate Card into the Membership Rewards programme?
Yes, provided your company allows it. Only individual Card Members, not companies, may participate in the programme. As an individual Card Member, you will earn points whenever you use your Card.
