Early in my career, a great salesman name Bill Joos once told me that the secret to sales is “ABC.” That is, you should “always be closing.” Truer words were never spoken—particularly for a small business person.
Recently on Twitter, @brentter, pointed me to this list of approximately sixty closing techniques. However, there is a danger in a list like this: that you believe you can use tricks and manipulation to make a sale.
While tricks and manipulation might work for the short-term, they do not engender customer loyalty and a long-lasting powerful brand. All “good” sales comes down to having a good product or service and finding the people who need that product or service.
Still, you need to always be closing because, as the saying goes, you have to wait by the river a long time before a roast duck flies into your mouth, so check out the list to learn more closing techniques.
