Do your employees dread change? That’s natural, but it can hinder your business’s ability to turn on a dime and put you at a disadvantage in today’s constantly evolving marketplace. If your employees aren’t embracing change, maybe you need to alter your approach to helping them deal with it. Try:
1. Abandoning your point of view. Instead of battling change-resistant employees, try to “switch” sides. This doesn’t mean resisting change, but simply seeing it from their point of view.
2. Joining together. Once you see change from your staff’s perspective, you’ll have a better idea of what’s standing in the way. You—and they—will feel more like a team and can work together to deal with the change.
3. Adjusting the “golden rule.” Don’t treat employees the way you want to be treated—figure out how they want to be treated and what matters to them. When you engage them based on what they care about, you’ll be able to win their support for change.
