We’ve heard a lot of good news this holiday retail season about the growth of online sales. But what about the e-commerce transactions that didn’t get completed? There are more of them than you might think—and they’re costing you money. In fact, according to a study sponsored by VHT, more than 75 percent of online shoppers have been frustrated by their inability to get help making an online purchase. A similar number of consumers have abandoned an online shopping cart because they couldn’t get assistance when they ran into a problem with the website.
The study also reports that e-commerce companies that provide rapid problem resolution and quick access to customer service assistance would enjoy not only greater sales, but also garner more customer loyalty and referrals.
