What customer engagement practices are going to be big in 2013? Small Biz Technology asked some up-and-coming entrepreneurs from the Young Entrepreneur Council (YEC) for their picks. Among the ones I find most intriguing:
- Meme-ification: Companies will create ads and images hoping their customers will remix, mash-up and make memes out of them, predicts Derek Flanzraich. If you’re willing to give up control,your company’s brand could end up becoming a household meme. Whether that's good or bad for your brand is up to you!
- Metric-Based Email Service Providers: Metric-based email service providers are going beyond just sending ordinary emails to sending automated emails based on your customers’ actions, says Liam Martin. So if someone abandons a shopping cart, you can send them a reminder email. If they buy shoes, try sending an email with a discount on a second pair.
- Gamification: We’ve been hearing about this one for a while, but Jun Loayza thinks this is the year gamification becomes “the” way to increase customer loyalty and referrals while building your brand. Will “Gamification Consultant” be the hot job title of 2013?
