Paying business expenses may be a drag. But what if you could find a way to make those expenses—particularly the cost of your office technology—pay themselves? You can! At least in a manner of speaking. What follows are the tried-and-tested strategies I've used to bring down my office tech costs by making the most of my rewards.
1. Find a card with rewards for office tech purchases.
Basically, many cash back rewards business cards offer different purchase percentages determined by the category of purchase. Hotel and airline reservations might generate 2 percent cash back, while purchases with a certain store or family of stores might offer 3 percent back. The key is to research these percentages and find the card that rewards what matters most to your business.
Since you know you're going to be spending money on office tech, you may want to consider using rewards toward these essential purchases. There are a number of business charge or credit cards that boost the return on office supplies, subscriptions and technology.
2. Pay for your office tech subscriptions with the right card.
This may be my favorite—and relatively new—office tech perk of all: Some business charge or credit cards bundle tech subscriptions when you use your card to sign up.
If you're using—or considering using—any of these tech services, you may want to do research and see if your new card allows you to use rewards to save you some bucks.
3. Double up on your rewards.
Once you've lined up the business card that delivers the best rewards for office tech purchases, there's one more step you can take: Doubling up on those office tech credit card rewards by signing up for an in-store rewards program.
When you consider the cash back rewards you get from your card for office tech and you add that to cash back rewards from the retailer, you can see how those benefits can add up.
A great part of office tech rewards is the fact that these aren't purchases that will break the bank. You don't have to talk yourself into these types of purchases, and you may see real cash rewards for purchases you're already making.
Taking the steps to get rewards means making sure that you're using the right cards for the right purchases. Ideally, your travel purchases will be made with travel rewards cards, racking up benefits with multipliers. It's the same thing for your office tech spend as well.

Make the most of those necessary expenses by shopping around for the most lucrative charge or credit card rewards program.
