Just when you thought there were no new rules for marketing, someone busts out a golden half dozen gems. Or do they? A focus group of one is all you need? Innovation, not invention? The other rules sound like recycled, reused, reruns with one major difference—marketing is an art, not a science. It's the subtle differences and approach to the same old marketing rules that make these seven rules shine like a new dime.
If you Google "marketing rules" or "marketing tips," you'll find a lot of the same basic advice. It may be more fun to read, or more concise or funnier, or easier to understand from one guru to the next, but the advice is the same. It's how you apply it and follow through. Are you treating customers with the utmost respect? Are you truly standing out and differentiating your business from competitors? Marketing is an art and you do need to study it and see what works for you. Once you perfect that art, you're golden.
