If you think social media is only for chatty customers and consumers, think again. There is actually a thriving market for business to business communications on social networks. Social media marketing has evolved from its solely social roots; it’s about being a thought leader, being visible and strengthening your brand, among other things. Don’t be fooled by thinking social media is fluff and entertainment: It’s serious business.
You wouldn’t go to a conference and blow off networking opportunities with vendors and other businesses because you thought they were only there for entertainment, would you? Social media is no different. It’s a place where you, as a business owner or entrepreneur, have a chance to get your name, your influence, your brand and your product or service out to people who are most likely to buy it. Don’t treat LinkedIn, Facebook or Twitter lightly—especially when dealing with other businesses. If you thought word-of-mouth marketing was powerful in the hands of a single consumer, imagine what having word-of-mouth marketing power of another business or corporation could do for your bottom line.
