In:Touch: Perspectives on Travel, Payments, and Expense Management

We’ve partnered with Savanta, a marketing research and advisory company, to commission two surveys gathering insights on business travelers and decision makers of large and global organizations.

Survey results reveal economic instability and concerns about recession are among the top challenges facing decision makers over the next year. In response, many are proactively updating travel policies and renegotiating with existing suppliers.

Survey results reveal economic instability and concerns about recession are among the top challenges facing decision makers over the next year. In response, many are proactively updating travel policies and renegotiating with existing suppliers.

Inside the Report

To understand the perspectives of business leaders and business travelers across travel, payments, and expense management, American Express and Savanta conducted two Corporate Client Workplace and Travel & Expense Insights Surveys—one among decision makers and one among business travelers—polling 784 decision makers and 527 business travelers from large companies across the globe.

Both the decision maker and business traveler surveys were conducted online in July of 2025 and covered the following sectors: technology, automotive/transportation, services, finance/ consulting/research, health/energy/agriculture, and leisure/hospitality/entertainment. The results reveal how companies are adapting to economic pressure, using travel as a growth engine, and leveraging digital tools to drive efficiency.

All respondents represent organizations with total annual revenue exceeding $100 million in 2024.
