And with additional Platinum Card designs by two highly acclaimed artists, Kehinde Wiley and Julie Mehretu, new and existing Card Members can add extra character to their everyday lives by choosing the Card design that inspires them most.

On View: Two Art x Platinum Card Designs
American Express has collaborated with two of the most celebrated artists of our time to reimagine the Platinum Card design. The result? Two Art x Platinum designs that transform and redefine what the Platinum Card can be. Kehinde Wiley, famously known for his botanical backdrops, brings his iconic art to the Platinum Card. Julie Mehretu, a renowned abstract artist, reimagines the Platinum Card as contemporary art.
“For me, making art comes from expanding the imagination and possibility, the incredible feeling of inventiveness and vitality that one can experience with a painting,” said Mehretu in a press release. “Art is all around us and I am delighted that a part of my work can now be found on the smallest of canvases in Platinum Card Members’ wallets.”
In the same press release, Wiley said he is proud to help Platinum Card Members “enjoy a bit of artistic inspiration every day.” He described the act of translating his artistic approach into a reimagined Card design as an exciting and powerful experience.
Choose Your Preferred Art x Platinum Design
The Art x Platinum artistic collaborations are a natural extension of a Card that aims to inspire you every day with its wide range of unique benefits. From an artist’s canvas to yours, new and existing Card Members can choose the art that resonates the most. And Additional Platinum Card Members get the same choice. Whether you want to match or be different, any Additional Platinum Card added to your account can choose the Card design that suits their style, be it Platinum x Kehinde Wiley, Platinum x Julie Mehretu, or classic Platinum.
Getting a Art x Platinum design is easy. If you’re a new Card Member, simply apply and select the Card design that speaks to you: classic Platinum, Platinum x Kehinde Wiley, or Platinum x Julie Mehretu. The Platinum Card has a $695 annual fee.1
Existing Card Members can request to change their current card design by logging into their American Express account or calling the number on the back of the Card. Choose your preferred design – Platinum x Kehinde Wiley or Platinum x Julie Mehretu – and American Express will ship out your replacement Card. Your Card number will remain the same and you can continue using your current Platinum Card until you receive and activate your new Card.
