Park Hyatt Kyoto

Architectural hillside retreat.
Park Hyatt Kyoto combines modern elegance with Kyoto’s distinctive culture of high art. Set on a hillside in the city, the hotel is designed as a quintessential Japanese guesthouse, close to iconic landmarks, temples, and gardens.
Insider Tip

Be sure to check with the hotel to learn about various Kyoto experiences as tea ceremony or exclusive local tour offered during your stay. Also, be sure to check with the hotel to see if the guided mountain hike or Japanese traditional calligraphy classes are offered during your stay.

Where You’re Staying

The 70 rooms and suites feature local materials like tamo wood and original artwork by local artists. All offer views of the zen gardens and some boast private Japanese gardens or Kyoto city views. All accommodations include working areas and daybeds, and spacious suites feature separate living rooms.

Where to Dine

Yasaka is a teppan restaurant, with living tableside cooking and breathtaking views of the famous Yasaka Pagoda. Kyoyamato, which dates back to 1877, serves seasonally-inspired kaiseki cuisine and has a teahouse. Kyoto Bistro serves international and Japanese comfort foods from an open kitchen. Taste rare sake or whiskey at Kohaku and enjoy the dramatic views of Yasaka Pagoda.

Where to Relax

Unwind in the Living Room in front of the open fireplace while savoring a drink from the bar or afternoon tea with snacks. The Spa at Park Hyatt Kyoto has a treatment suite for two with a private bath house including Japanese-style bathtubs, as well as dry and mist saunas and an adjacent fitness center.

What To Do

Visit the famous Yasaka Pagoda, a five-story Buddhist temple, or Kiyomizu-dera Temple, another Buddhist temple that dates back 1,200 years. Walk through the zen gardens of Kōdai-ji Temple, just steps from the hotel, which includes a bamboo grove and teahouses. Shop along Ninen-zaka’s pedestrian thoroughfare, exploring speciality boutiques, teahouses, and cafés.
