Moving to Hong Kong

The easiest way to retain your existing Cardmembership status in Hong Kong is to apply for a new Card online. You may also apply by phone. Whatever option you choose, be sure to provide your existing Card account number when you apply, in addition to the other information listed on the right.


  1. If you are applying for Centurion® Card or The Platinum Card®, download and complete the appropriate application form below. You can review the benefits of The Platinum Card on the
    All Cards page.
  2. Please send the completed application form to us via:

  3. For all other products, please select your preferred Card from the All Cards page.
  4. Well contact you within a week for ID documentation and any additional information.
  5. Once approved, we will send out your new Card (we aim to have it to you within 2 weeks of receiving your necessary documents).
  6. If you wish to transfer Membership Rewards points or cancel your old Card, please call the Cardmember Hotline on your old Card.

  1. Please call 2277-1010 (local) or +852 2277-1010 (from abroad), available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  2. Receive your Card application form by fax, email or post.
  3. Please complete the Card application form and send it back to us via:

  4. Well contact you within a week for ID documentation and any additional information.

  6. If you wish to transfer Membership Rewards points or cancel your old Card, please call the Cardmember Hotline on your old Card.

Please note:

  • Process takes 3-4 weeks.
  • You may only apply for one Card in Hong Kong until you have built up a local credit history.
  • If you have a Hong Kong credit file, it will be taken into account when processing your application.
  • We may request documents for ID purposes, income and address verification.
  • Membership Rewards® points can be transferred to your new Card if it is enrolled in the Membership Rewards
    program. Otherwise, please redeem the points before you cancel your existing Card.
  • If you wish to keep your existing Card, you will continue to be billed any annual fees you are currently paying.
  • The balance, if any, from your existing Card cannot be transferred over to the new Card, upon Card approval.
  • To be eligible for a new Card in Hong Kong, your Consumer Card (including Small Business Cards, where applicable) must be issued by American Express International, Inc. You must be the Basic Cardmember, and have held the Card for at least 3 months. Your Card account must be open and in good standing at the time of application. Or if the Card was previously cancelled by you, it must have been cancelled within the last 3 months. Corporate Cardmembers and Global Network Cardmembers (whose Cards were issued by Banks other than an American Express Bank) are not eligible through this Card application process.
