Yes, you need an Online Merchant Account to use the app.
You do not have to register again if you already have an Online Merchant Account for the Merchant Website. You can use the same user ID and password to log into your Online Merchant Account via the app on your mobile device.
If you do not have an existing Online Merchant Account, please create one through the “Register now” button on the first screen of the app and follow the prompts.
To register, you will need your Merchant Account Number. To ensure the security of your Online Merchant Account, you will be asked to confirm your bank details as well.
If you have been receiving Paper statements, your Merchant Account number can be found at the top right corner of the statement. It is also included at the top right corner of any email sent to you from American Express regarding your Online Merchant Account.
No. Paper statements will not be sent to you once you register for an Online Merchant Account and enrol to Payments service. You will be able to view and download E-statements for the past 24 months* on the Merchant app or Merchant Website. On the Merchant app, you can also simply export your E-statements including forwarding them to your email inbox.
*Depending on the date you are first registered to the Merchant Website, you will be able to view and download E-statements for up to 24 months on the Merchant app or Merchant Website.
You can retrieve your User ID by clicking on the ‘Forgot User ID or Password?’ link located on the log in screen. You will be asked to enter the email address you provided when you previously registered for an Online Merchant Account.

Using Biometric ID, such as Face ID (iPhone X) and Touch ID (other iPhones)/Fingerprint (Android), allows you to log in with just one tap or by face recognition without entering your user ID or password at every log in. Alternatively, you can turn on the ‘Remember me’ function on the log in screen. At the next log in, you will only have to enter your password.
You can retrieve your password by clicking on the ‘Forgot User ID or Password?’ link located on the log in screen. You will be asked to enter your User ID.

In order to use Face/Touch ID or Fingerprint, you first need to enable it in your phone setting. For both iOS and Android, go to 'Setting', then select 'Touch ID & Password' for iPhone, or 'Security' for Android.
Next, turn on the ‘Remember me’ button on the first screen of the app. By enabling Touch ID/Fingerprint login, you are allowing anyone who has a fingerprint stored on your device to access your Merchant Account. Please review the fingerprints stored on your device and make sure all are authorised to access the Account information through the Amex Merchant app. You can turn these features on or off any time via the Account tab at the bottom of the screen.

Please visit the American Express Merchant Website to update your password, then log into the app.
Tap the Payments button on the bottom menu. You will find a month-to-date payments summary with the breakdown of each settlement on separate dates. By tapping each settlement line, you will be able to see details of each settlement such as the submission amount, and debit details.
Currently, there is no location filter or date filter function within the Merchant app. It can be done only on the Merchant Website. We recommend to visit the website on a desk top computer at americanexpress.com/nz/merchantlogin.
The payments information shown on the app is the total amount for all the locations that you manage, and is month-to-date. We are working towards improving the functionality of the app.
Tap the Payments button from the bottom menu. Next, you will find 3 icons at the top of screen.
Tap the arrow icon at the top right to see the list of your most recent E-statements. Then choose the period and the Merchant number to download the specific E-statement you need.
If you need to retrieve older E-statements or annual E-statements, you can tap 'Search More Statements' below the recent E-statements and choose the file that you need. Only PDF format is available on the app.
Yes. After downloading an E-statement, tap on the export icon at the top right corner of the screen and choose the specific method you prefer (e.g., email, send to a printer).
On the app, you can view the total amounts and dates for both paid and pending payments, and fee amount debited. For further payment details such as transaction and debit details, please log into the Merchant Website at americanexpress.com/nz/merchantlogin, using the same user ID and password. . We recommend viewing the website on a desktop computer.
