Protect yourself from identity theft

Simple steps to stop an identity thief in their tracks

The result? Inconvenience, cost and potentially even temporary damage to your credit rating.

Fortunately, there are a number of easy ways you can avoid identity fraud.

Check out our top tips to stay ahead of the fraudsters.

  • Keep all your personal details and documents safe. Shred bank statements, utility bills and other documents when no longer needed. Switch to paper-free statements and view your Account online or through our mobile app. Review your credit reference report regularly (see list below) and sign up for alerts to spot ID fraud early.

If you don't seem to be receiving texts or phone calls, contact your mobile provider right away. You might be a victim of SIM swap fraud, which occurs when fraudsters try to get access to accounts by taking over your phone number.
