Android device payments with Google PayTM

Linking your American Express Card to a compatible Android device allows you to use Google Pay to tap and pay in-store or make payments on compatible mobile apps and websites. Your Card Member Agreement governs the use of your card at all times.

To make a purchase, wake up the device and hold it near the contactless reader until your device beeps or vibrates and a checkmark appears on the screen indicating your purchase is complete. You may be prompted to unlock the device first by providing your PIN, passcode, pattern or fingerprint.

To make an in-app purchase, select the “Google Pay” button when you reach the checkout screen.

You must keep your Android device and security credentials safe and secure at all times – in the same way you would your actual Card or PIN. Never share your device security credentials or allow another person to register their fingerprint to your device, as that person will be able to make payments using your Card. If you do allow someone access, and he or she uses your Card, we will treat that transaction as authorised.

In the interest of security, you must set up a screen lock to use Google Pay on your Android device. If you disable the screen lock function then your card will be removed from the Google Pay app. For more information about safety and security, please visit:
