How do I use my Card?

You can use your Card anywhere American Express® Cards are accepted.

There are a variety of ways you can use your Card to make purchases. Here are some tips:

In-store: If a merchant asks you to choose between "credit" and "debit," choose "credit." No PIN is required for in-store purchases. Depending on the type of terminal, you will either swipe the Card or insert it into the slot.  

Online: For online purchases, you'll be asked to enter your Card details during checkout, including your Card number, expiration date and 4-digit security code located on the front of your Card.

Amex Express Checkout: Eligible Card Members with an online account can make purchases through Amex Express Checkout with participating online merchants and in participating merchant apps by entering their americanexpress.com User ID and Password. Just look for the "Amex Express Checkout" button in the merchant's checkout experience.

Mobile: American Express payments can be made using a range of digital wallets, including Apple Pay™, Samsung Pay, and Android Pay™.
