What steps does American Express take to ensure my privacy is protected?  

Maintaining your trust is important to us and we have a longstanding commitment to privacy. That’s why we created the American Express Privacy Center – a resource that helps you understand the steps we take to protect your privacy and the choices you have. It also gives you a quick and convenient way to access our privacy statements and notices.

What steps does American Express take to protect my information from fraud?  

To learn how we protect your information from being used for fraudulent purposes, please visit our Security Center. We also provide Card Members with a variety of automatic account alerts that inform them, by email or text, of any activity on their accounts, automatically. How often does American Express update its Privacy Notice and Online Privacy Statement?  

We review our Privacy Notice and Online Privacy Statement regularly to provide our customers with a up-to-date information about how we collect and use their information as well as the privacy choices we offer. When we do update our Privacy Notice and Online Privacy Statement. We notify customers when we update our Privacy Notice and Online Privacy Statement.

Where can I learn about how American Express collects, uses and shares my data?

What are my privacy choices?  

We offer a number of privacy choices depending on the American Express product you have or the service you use. You can review these in the “What are your choices” section of the Online Privacy Statement.

What are my choices about how American Express directly markets to me?  

You can choose how you would like to receive direct marketing communications - whether we send them to you through postal mail, email and/or telephone. If you choose not to receive marketing communications from us, we will honor your choice. If you choose not to receive these communications, you may no longer learn about products, services, and features - including discounts and other special offers - that we believe may be of interest to you. We will still send you communications to service your account, fulfill your requests, or administer any promotion or program in which you have elected to participate.

How can I update my personal information?  

Card Members can log in to their card accounts at to update or correct their Personal Information. They can also call the number on the back of their card. Non-Card Members can call the customer service number associated with their product or service.

I have a product or service issued by one of American Express’ partner banks. Where can I find the relevant privacy statement and policies?  

If you have a product or service that is issued by one of our partner banks, please contact the issuing bank for information about their privacy practices.

How can I manage my choices related to Targeted Advertising?
