Customer reviews are a powerful way to build buzz for your brand, writes Neil Schroeder. "People like to share their opinions if you ask them," Schroeder writes.
To encourage your customers to leave more feedback, explicitly ask for it and make it easy—perhaps with a simple star-rating system or a comment card—for your clients to sound off. Other ways to encourage feedback include following up with customers after they make purchases and offering incentives, such as a chance to win a prize, for customers who share their thoughts, Schroeder adds.
"[But] don't offer straight discounts," he writes. "Otherwise it looks as if you are trying to pay for positive results."
