One tip is to watch what your sales or marketing counterpart actually does. Spend an hour with that person doing their job to know the key parts of it, but also make sure sales and marketing are measured together. Get managers together to go over weekly numbers for more buy-in. In addition, make sure you're planning together so everyone is on the same page to start, and at the end of the day, celebrate your successes together as a team.
