According to a study conducted by online survey provider Zoomerang, only 44 percent of small-business decision-makers currently market their companies using social media—that is, more than 1 out of every 2 small businesses don’t have a strong social media presence: a surprising number, considering the facts.

According to a report by crowdsourcing design agency Crowdspring, 50 percent of small-business owners reported getting new customers from social media.  Furthermore, 51 percent of Facebook users and 64 percent of Twitter followers are more likely to buy from the brands they follow.  The best part?  It costs next to nothing compared to some of the traditional marketing campaigns on which businesses have been spending their hard-earned dollars.  So why aren’t more companies taking advantage of this cheap new way to market?
