Twitter just rolled a new app called Vine, a 6-second video sharing service. Think animated gif with sound. No editing needed. Just press and hold record until the 6-second bar on the app is full. The idea is great on paper, as other tried-and-failed services can attest, but this app may be different enough to make it. The video jury is still out, but time and consumers will tell.
This represents another step toward the hyper-short attention spans of people (including your customers). Don't believe me? Go out to a restaurant and see how long a person can listen to another before they "must" check their smartphone. That's the modern reality and within those short attention spans lies opportunity. Seek ways that your customers can use Vine to communicate 6-second snippets about you—from a best 6-second clip contest, to your entire community working together to make a film, 6 seconds at a time.
