Tips for throwing an

Amazing Business Event

Hosting an event is a great way to help attract new customers, cement relationships and build buzz around your business. These tips can help you plan and execute your next event with ease.

1. Figure out the scope.

Will you have refreshments, entertainment, workshops or speakers? Scale the event’s scope to your level of experience.

2. Time it right

Consider key dates, such as holidays or annual community events, that might compete with yours, or choose a theme to highlight.

3. Choose your team.

You need one person to take ownership and keep responsibilities clear-cut, and then others to help with moving parts.

4. Set a budget.

If you find costs adding up, consider seeking a sponsor, selling tickets in advance or partnering with a complementary business to share the costs.

5. Create a marketing plan.

Help get the word out through email outreach, direct mail, in-store signage, and radio, print, online and cable advertising.

6. Be positive.

On the day of the event, be prepared, but also accept that you probably haven’t planned for everything. Stay positive and keep your sense of humor.

7. Follow up.

Follow up with customers who attended to thank them and offer something special, such as a discount, free trial or invitation to your next event.
