Applying for an American Express Rewards Checking account can be completed in minutes. We are currently accepting applications from Card Members with a U.S. Basic Consumer Card, additional Card Members on a U.S. Basic Consumer Card account, and customers with an existing High Yield Savings Account or CD, each issued by American Express National Bank (AENB). Other eligibility criteria may apply and accounts are subject to approval.

• Setting up direct deposit: American Express offers three ways to switch and set up direct deposit with your Rewards Checking account:
1. If you already have direct deposit set up elsewhere, use our online automated direct deposit switcher through our partnership with Pinwheel.
2. Provide your payroll provider with your account number and routing number.
3. Download the Amex direct deposit form, fill it out, and share it with your payroll provider.
