Lock in your fixed rate, and watch your money grow with a Certificate of Deposit (CD).

A CD is ideal for someone who doesn’t need access to their funds in the short term and wants the assurance of a fixed interest rate.

Put your money to work when you open an American Express Certificate of Deposit account.

With a CD, you choose your term – up to 5 years – for a locked-in rate.

Strategies to Save

A certificate of deposit, better known as a CD, is a secure, low-risk way to set aside – and earn interest on – a chunk of savings for a pre-determined period of time.

Hear what our savers are saying

“Coming together as a blended family in 2014, we made a home of an austere house void of a feminine touch for years and, worse, lacking necessary functionality. Our American Express Savings allow us to aggressively save in a manner that soon afforded us the opportunity to do the necessary remodeling to accommodate our instant family.”

 Amanda, GA

“As a single mother of two, savings are very important for me. I made a goal to save $10,000 by my 30th birthday as a birthday gift to myself, and decided to utilize American Express Personal Savings to meet my goal. I have a certain amount direct deposit to my personal savings account and the money just saves like magic! I highly recommend American Express personal savings to anyone looking to start saving for a long term goal.”

 Eboni, TX

“My family motivates me to save for our future. I have a family, a house, many things others have, and the ability to earn money on what I'm saving with an account like this has encouraged me to save more. I want to continue to provide a better standard of living for my family, and this account is a great place to save for that down payment.”

*The Annual Percentage Yield (APY) as advertised is accurate as of . Interest rate and APY are subject to change at any time without notice before and after a High Yield Savings Account is opened.

For a CD account, rates are subject to change at any time without notice before the account is funded. The rate received will either be (i) the rate reflected during your application process or (ii) the rate being offered when your CD is funded, whichever is higher. All CDs must be funded within 60 calendar days from the time we approve your application or will be subject to closure. The interest rate and Annual Percentage Yield (APY) will be disclosed in your account-opening documents, which you will receive after completing your account-opening deposit. After a CD is opened, additional deposits to the account are not permitted. Early CD withdrawals may be subject to significant penalties which could cause you to lose some of your principal. Please see the Deposit Account Agreement for additional terms and conditions and Truth-in-Savings disclosures.

**The national rate referenced is from the FDIC's published Monthly Rate Cap Information for Savings deposit products. Visit the FDIC website for details.
