Card Applicant Frequently Asked Questions
There are two ways to access a Card application:
1. Email invitation
- You’ll receive two emails from American Express, initiated by your Programme administrator, inviting you to apply for your Corporate Card.
- One email will contain a link to the Application site, the other will contain an application ID that you’ll need to log on and complete the application.
2. Access Key and a URL Link
- Your company may provide you with a link to the application site and an Access Key.
- Access Keys may be posted on your company’s internal intranet site.
Once on the Card application site, you’ll be instructed to enter your corporate email address and Application ID or Access Key to begin your Corporate Card application.
You can access your application using the secure URL and Application ID you received when you started your application.
Yes, Global Apply for Card will respond to and function on smaller screen resolutions like tablet and mobile. However, we do not have a separate mobile-only application.
The Card Applicant will have seven days to complete the application. If the application isn’t completed within that timeframe, it’ll be cancelled.
All fields are mandatory unless they are labeled as ‘Optional’. If the Applicant encounters any error(s) while completing the application, they will see an error message with instructions on what to do.
We’ll use the Applicant’s provided company email address to communicate important updates and information about the application/ account.
The Card Applicant is required to provide a clear soft copy of:
- One of the below listed, not expired Government-Issued ID document that includes their complete legal Name and complete Date of Birth, and should match with the information provided on the application.
- Driver's License-
- Non-Driver Photo ID-
- Passport-
- Passport Card-
- Tribal CardPermanent Resident Card
- One of the below listed document containing their exact, complete and current Residential Address. Please note, the address on the provided document MUST NOT be the Billing address, but instead the applicant’s Residential Address where the service or coverage is provided. The provided document cannot be expired or marked as a final billing statement, as applicable.
- Government-issued ID (Driver's License, Non-Driver’s License Photo ID, Passport, Passport Card, Tribal Card, or Permanent Resident Card).
- Bank statement which must be issued within the prior 60 days.
- Utility billing statement (landline telephone statement, cell phone statement, electricity statement, water statement, sewer statement, trash statement, gas statement, cable statement, or internet statement), which must be issued within the prior 60 days.
- Credit Card billing statement which must be issued within the prior 60 days.
- Homeowner's/Renter's insurance statement which cannot be for a future agreement.
- Lease or rental agreement which must be executed by both the landlord and the tenant, and cannot be for a future agreement.
- Mortgage statement which must be issued within the prior 60 days.
The Card Applicant can upload the respective document(s) under the Supporting Documents section in the application.
If the Card Applicant is applying for a CPC the Program Administrator will determine whether the Applicant can set their own spending limits1. If the Applicant is eligible to set their own spending limits1, subject to final review and approval by the Program Administrator, the Applicant will be prompted to enter spending limits1 information on the application. For the moment, Card spending limit1 settings are not applicable for Card types other than CPC.
After the Applicant completed all the mandatory fields in the application, they will reach a Review and Submit screen. There, you can review and modify fields if necessary. Once finalized, they need to accept the Terms and Conditions and click the Submit button. A screen confirming that the application has been submitted will then appear.
No, the application once submitted cannot be edited.
Yes, the Applicant will receive email reminders to complete the application.
The Card Applicant will receive an email notification when the application has been approved by their company. If there are any issues with your Card application, the Program Administrator will contact the Applicant and they will receive a notification from American Express.
No. The GDC Card application should be filled by the Card Applicant who is applying for the Card.
Yes, the Card Applicant will receive an Adverse action email, on the business email address provided on the application, that will indicate all the reasons for the reject decision. The Applicant should read and understand the notification and re-apply.
Yes, the Program Administrator will receive an email, on the Program Administrator’s business email address provided on the application but will not be provided with the detailed reason of decline due to Privacy Consideration. The Approver/Program Administrator may contact the Applicant to find more details, if they wishes to do so.
Unless your company has arranged otherwise, you can choose to have your Card sent to your residential address or your company address.
No, not currently.
Once an application is received and approved by AMEX GDC New Accounts, Cards are typically delivered within 10 business days. If a Card is required sooner, please select the expedite option.
If your company allows for a Card to be expedited, your Program Administrator will need to select the Expedited Card Delivery option. You’ll then be able to choose where your Card is sent, either to your residential address or your company address.
American Express does not guarantee at any time a certain delivery date or time frame for Expedited Card Delivery. Expedited Card Delivery time is subject to the courier services available in the country in which the requested delivery address is located.
