It is important to seek medical attention prior to cancelling or interrupting your trip. To allow us to objectively evaluate your claim, you will need to be seen by a Physician or Dentist. Then, as a result, you will need to provide us with a note from the Physician or Dentist stating that the Covered Person’s trip must be cancelled or interrupted because the unexpected or unintended injury, illness, or disease that you were seen for is so disabling that the Covered Person’s trip must be interrupted or cancelled.
Yes, and the pre-existing condition exclusion can be waived if the Covered Person was medically able to travel at the time of purchase and coverage was purchased within 14 days of making the first trip deposit. The pre-existing condition* exclusion may apply in instances where medical advice or treatment
was received 90 days preceding the coverage effective date. The exclusion solely applies to Trip Cancellation/Interruption and Global Medical Protection.
Please read the Plan Documents issued upon enrollment carefully, because the pre-existing condition exclusion may vary by state.
*A Preexisting Condition is defined in the Plan Documents as “a Sickness or Accident that existed, or for which a Covered Person, Traveling Companion or Family Member of a Covered Person or Traveling Companion was treated or received medical advice, before the Coverage Effective Date. The existence of a Preexisting Condition may cause certain benefits to be excluded.” Please see the Sample of Insurance for additional defined terms.
