An Additional Card Member is another user on your Card account. Additional Card Members do not have accounts with us but they can use your Account subject to the terms of the Card Member Agreement.
An Additional Card Member can enjoy some of the benefits and convenience of your American Express Membership. You will remain responsible for all purchases made on both your Card and the Additional Card Members’ Card.
The Additional Card Member must be over the age of 13 and never had a defaulted account with American Express.

You need the Additional Card Member’s full name, address, and date of birth to add them to your account. You also need to provide their Social Security Number, but you have up to 60 days from the date the Card is issued to provide this. If you do not provide their and Social Security Number within 60 days, the Additional Card Member’s Card will be canceled.
If the Additional Card Member does not have a Social Security Number, please call the number on the back of your Card at the time of application.
Under the USA PATRIOT Act. all financial institutions are required to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person who opens an account, including name, address, date of birth and other information to verify identity.
Yes. the Additional Card Member can use the American Express App with their own log in. The Amex App can be a great tool for the Additional Card Members to track their spending, make a payment, and discover Amex Offers® to add to their Card. Data and other fees may apply.
The Additional Card Member will receive the same Card as you (with the exception of the Platinum Card and Delta SkyMiles® Reserve Card which have alternative options). For example, if you hold a Blue Cash Everyday® Card, the Additional Card Member will also hold a Blue Cash Everyday® Card. If you have more than one American Express Card, you can add Additional Card Members to one or all of your Cards.
Yes. You can add up to 4 Additional Card Members at the time of application. Other terms and annual fees may apply based on the type of Card.
You will be held responsible for all purchases charged on both your Card and the Additional Card Members’ Card.

Yes. Charges of each Additional Card are itemized on your billing statements, making it easy to track expenses. You also can check the balance of the Additional Card anytime via your online Account (within the Statements & Activity tab), on your billing statement, or by calling the number on the back of your Card.
Yes. Charges made by each Additional Card are itemized on your monthly statements for easy expense tracking.
You can set a limit as low as $200 for the Additional Card Member. You can also allow the Additional Card Member to access your full credit limit.
No, the Additional Card Member cannot access your account information (Card number, transactions, limit controls) unless you give them access as an Account Manager.
Credit Information will be provided to the credit bureau for the Additional Card Member when they are 18 or older. The Additional Card Member builds only positive credit history based on the credit behavior of the Primary Card Member. If the Primary Card Member becomes delinquent at any point, we will discontinue reporting on the Additional Card Member’s Card in order to retain positive history on the Additional Card Member.
Yes, eligible purchases made on the Additional Card are considered qualifying purchases and can help you earn rewards.
No. Each Card has its own account number, so if one is lost or stolen, you only need to replace that Card.
No. While the Primary Card Member can view charges for each Additional Card online or on their monthly billing statement, Additional Card Members can view only their purchases online.
